This election will fill the vacant seat in the House of Representatives following the expulsion of former Representative Francisco \u201cKiko\u201d Barzaga last June 2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chairman Garcia emphasized that the special election is mandated under Section 4 of Republic Act No. 7166, ensuring that the residents of Cavite\u2019s 4th District continue to have representation in Congress. \u201cIt is our duty to safeguard the voice of the people. Malaca\u00f1ang has confirmed that sufficient funds amounting to \u20b1200 million have been allocated for the conduct of the special election. Chairman Garcia also noted that August 29 is likely to be declared a special holiday in the district to encourage voter participation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
