Cavite Day Celebrates World Malaria Day 2025
In line with the global observance of World Malaria Day, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer (OPHO) spearheaded a province-wide celebration held on April 28, 2025, at the Cavite Collaboration Center for Public Health in Trece Martires City. The event gathered medical practitioners from various public and private hospitals, as well as Rural Health Units (RHUs) across the province, to reinforce the importance of malaria prevention and control.
The program officially commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. Nelson Soriano, Provincial Health Officer I, who expressed his gratitude for the active participation of healthcare professionals in the fight against vector-borne diseases. He emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts in sustaining a malaria-free Cavite.
The lecture proper opened with a presentation from Mr. Jommel Mojica, Nurse V – Department of Health who delivered the latest updates on vector-borne diseases, including surveillance and control strategies. This was followed by an insightful discussion from Mr. Raffy MacDonald, Nurse II – OPHO on the 1-3-5 Strategy—an effective approach for timely reporting and response to malaria cases within one, three, and five days, respectively.
The event concluded with closing message from Dr. Armand Dotollo, who commended the dedication of the healthcare community and encouraged continuous vigilance and community engagement in the prevention of malaria. (OPIO)
