GenTri, DOTr, LRTA Join Forces to Support Families Affected by LRT-1 Extension
General Trias City—In a recent coordination meeting between the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), and the local government of General Trias, officials reached a consensus to allow the construction of additional facilities at the designated relocation site for families affected by the LRT Line 1 South Extension Project.
The agreement paves the way for the LGU to implement vital social and livelihood programs aimed at supporting displaced residents. Among the planned initiatives are community centers, health and daycare services, and skills development programs designed to help families rebuild and thrive in their new environment.
Mayor Antonio Ferrer emphasized the city’s commitment to ensuring that infrastructure projects do not only serve transit goals but also uphold the dignity and welfare of every citizen. “We are here to make sure that every government project brings hope and opportunity, especially for our youth,” he said.
The LRT-1 South Extension Project, a major transportation initiative, has necessitated the relocation of several households. Through this partnership, the LGU seeks to transform the relocation site into a hub of inclusive development, where affected families can access essential services and economic opportunities.
This collaborative effort reflects the city’s broader vision of a progressive and compassionate General Trias. Under the banner of #LetsJoinForces and #AlagangGenTriAlagangFerrer, the LGU continues to champion equitable development and community resilience.
