SM Foundation Donates First Four-Storey School Building to DepEd General Trias
General Trias, Cavite – In a landmark initiative for education, SM Foundation, Inc. has announced the construction of a four-storey school building with eight classrooms for the Department of Education Schools Division Office (DepEd SDO) General Trias. This project marks the first time that a four-level building will be donated by the foundation to a city, underscoring its commitment to advancing quality education.
The turnover of the building is scheduled to coincide with the grand opening of SM General Trias, which is set to become the largest SM mall in Cavite. This symbolic partnership highlights the city’s progress in both infrastructure and education.
Mayor “Jonjon” Ferrer expressed his gratitude, emphasizing how the project will directly benefit the growing student population of General Trias. “Education is the cornerstone of our city’s future. With this generous donation from SM Foundation, we are ensuring that our children have access to safe, modern, and conducive learning spaces,” Mayor Ferrer said.
Vice Mayor Jonas Labuguen also lauded the initiative, noting that the new facility will help ease classroom congestion and provide opportunities for more innovative teaching methods. “This project is a testament to what we can achieve when the private sector and local government join forces for the welfare of our youth,” Vice Mayor Labuguen remarked.
The collaboration between SM Foundation and the City Government of General Trias reflects the shared vision of #EducationForAll and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
As the city continues to grow, this milestone reinforces the commitment of both government and private partners to invest in the future of General Trias’ students. ( CTJ Team/Photo courtesy from FB account)
