New Covered Court Rises in GenTri: A Slam Dunk for Youth Empowerment

General Trias, Cavite — A new chapter in youth development and community engagement unfolded in Brgy. Pasong Kawayan II as the local government officially inaugurated the Heneral Dos Covered Court, a long-awaited facility for the residents of Heneral Uno and Dos Subdivision.

The blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Mayor Jonjon Ferrer, who emphasized the importance of investing in spaces that promote health, unity, and opportunity. “This court is more than just a venue for sports—it’s a symbol of our commitment to empower the youth and strengthen community ties,” Mayor Ferrer said during his speech.

Joining the celebration was Vice Mayor Jonas Labuguen, who echoed the mayor’s sentiments and encouraged the youth to make the most of the facility. “Gamitin ninyo ito hindi lang sa pagpapalakas ng katawan, kundi sa pagpapanday ng pagkakaibigan at disiplina,” Labuguen remarked, addressing the young athletes and residents in attendance.

The covered court is expected to host a variety of activities—from basketball tournaments and fitness programs to barangay assemblies and youth workshops. Local officials hope it will become a vibrant hub for both recreation and civic engagement.

For many young GenTriseños, the court represents the fulfillment of a dream. “Bilang isang bata rin noon na mahilig sa sports, ang sarap sa pakiramdam na makita ang katuparan ng pangarap ng mga kabataan natin,” one community leader shared, reflecting the joy felt across generations.

The project is part of the broader initiative under #AlagangGenTriAlagangFerrer, which continues to deliver meaningful infrastructure and programs that uplift the lives of General Trias residents. With hashtags like #YouthEmpowerment and #LetsJoinForces, the event also served as a rallying call for a healthier, more active, and united community.

As the cheers echoed through the newly built court, one thing was clear: General Trias is not just building structures—it’s building futures
