BAGUIO CITY — The Publisgers Association of Philippines, Inc. (PAPI) is in full swing preparing for the National Press Congress 2025, with top national officers leading a strategic coordination visit to Baguio City. Over two days of planning and partnership-building, PAPI President Rebecca M. Velasquez, Director for Media Affairs Nelson Santos, and Vice President for Luzon Alma Ochotorena met with key regional stakeholders to finalize arrangements for the landmark event.

The delegation was warmly received by Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas, Ms. Hamada representing Mayor Benjamin Magalong, and DOST-CAR’s Ms. Vanne, signaling strong local support for the congress. Discussions focused on venue readiness, thematic alignment, and collaborative programming that will highlight media’s role in sustainable development, civic engagement, and digital transformation.

President Velasquez emphasized the congress’s national significance, noting that NPC 2025 will serve as a platform for journalists, publishers, and communicators to reaffirm their commitment to truth, ethics, and public service. “This is more than a gathering—it’s a movement to strengthen the press as a pillar of democracy,” she said.

Director Santos underscored the importance of regional inclusion, citing Baguio’s strategic role in bridging Luzon’s diverse media communities. “We’re building a congress that reflects the voices of every region, every newsroom, and every citizen who relies on credible journalism,” he added.

Vice President Ochotorena, known for her grassroots advocacy, highlighted the value of local partnerships in amplifying the congress’s reach. “Baguio’s civic spirit and institutional readiness make it the ideal host for NPC 2025. We’re excited to co-create this milestone with the community,” she shared.

With preparations now underway, NPC 2025 is set to convene hundreds of media professionals, thought leaders, and advocates in a dynamic exchange of ideas and best practices. The congress will feature plenary sessions, workshops, and recognition ceremonies that celebrate journalistic excellence and innovation.

PAPI’s coordination visit marks a pivotal step in ensuring that NPC 2025 delivers on its promise: a press congress that is inclusive, forward-looking, and deeply rooted in public service.
