Strengthening Sports Development in the Philippines

Malacañang, Manila — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. together with Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino warmly welcomed Olympic Council of Asia and Qatar Olympic Committee President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani in a courtesy visit at the Palace.  

The meeting highlighted the Philippines’ commitment to advancing sports development nationwide. Discussions centered on:  

– Enhancing training programs for Filipino athletes  

– Expanding international partnerships and collaborations  

– Exploring opportunities for the Philippines to host major global sporting events  

President Marcos Jr. emphasized the government’s dedication to supporting Filipino athletes, ensuring they receive the resources and opportunities needed to excel on the world stage. POC President Tolentino echoed this commitment, noting that stronger international ties will help elevate the country’s sports programs and inspire the next generation of champions.  

This engagement reflects the administration’s vision of positioning the Philippines as a hub for athletic excellence in Asia, while reinforcing the nation’s pride in its athletes.  

“Patuloy ang suporta para sa atletang Pilipino,” President Marcos Jr. affirmed, underscoring the government’s unwavering support for sports as a vital pillar of national development.
