Tagaytay Showcases World-Class Sports Tourism as Host of 10th Aero Gymnastics Asian Championships
TAGAYTAY CITY – Mayor Brent Tolentino proudly welcomed athletes and officials to the 10th Aero Gymnastics Asian Championships, emphasizing the city’s growing reputation as a premier destination for international sporting events.
Tolentino expressed gratitude to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), led by Chairman Patrick Gregorio, and the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) under President Cynthia Carrion, for entrusting Tagaytay with the prestigious competition.
“Hosting this Asian meet is a privilege for Tagaytay. It strengthens our profile as a tourist hub while showcasing our modern sports facilities to the world,” Mayor Tolentino said. “We are committed to promoting sport tourism because it brings economic opportunities and highlights the beauty of our city.”
The championship is being staged at the UCI-certified Tagaytay City Velodrome, one of the country’s most advanced sports venues, alongside the Tagaytay Combat Center. Both facilities reflect the city’s investment in infrastructure to attract top-tier local and international competitions.
Tolentino underscored the economic impact of such events, noting that sports tourism provides a boost to local businesses during lean months. “This tournament is a blessing for our establishments and industries, ensuring that our community thrives while welcoming guests from across Asia,” he added.
Tagaytay Tourism and Cultural Development Office head Isa Braga highlighted that tourism remains the city’s primary economic driver, with over 300 restaurants, cafes, and establishments catering to visitors.
PSC Chairman Gregorio echoed the sentiment, describing Tagaytay as the ideal venue: “Its accessibility from Metro Manila, scenic views, and relaxing atmosphere make it a natural choice. This event benefits athletes, tourists, and the local economy alike—a true win-win.”
The 10th Aero Gymnastics Asian Championships features preliminaries and finals across multiple categories, including individual men and women, mixed pairs, trios, aerobic dance, and aerobic step, with youth, junior, and senior divisions.
As the competition unfolds, Tagaytay City continues to shine as a model for sport tourism in the Philippines, combining athletic excellence with its renowned hospitality and breathtaking scenery.
