Bacoor Launches Ligtas Tigdas Measles-Rubella Immunization Drive
Bacoor City, Cavite — August 24, 2026 — The City Government of Bacoor, led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, formally launched the Ligtas Tigdas: Measles-Rubella Supplementary Immunization Activity at the Legislative and Disaster Resilient Building. The program, organized through the Office of the City Health Service (OCHS), aims to protect thousands of children from the highly contagious measles virus.
The event gathered Bacoor’s top officials and health leaders, including Vice Mayor Rowena B. Mendiola, Councilor Noly Galvez, and SK Federation President Palm Angel Buncio. Also present were Dr. Ivy Marie Yrastorza, OCHS Head, and Dr. Ma. Cristina Alberto of the Philippine Pediatric Society, alongside Undersecretary Eric Tayag and representatives from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC).
Civil society leaders, homeowners’ association presidents, parent-teacher association officers, and urban poor association presidents joined the launch, reflecting the strong community support behind the campaign. Their participation highlights the collective effort to ensure widespread vaccination coverage across Bacoor.
The immunization drive sets an ambitious target of vaccinating 56,000 young Bacooreños, reinforcing the city’s commitment to public health and disease prevention. Mayor Revilla underscored the importance of the initiative, declaring: “Every vaccine is a shield against measles. Every child deserves protection.”
Health experts emphasized that measles remains one of the most dangerous childhood diseases, but vaccination offers effective protection. The campaign’s success depends on parents and guardians bringing their children to designated vaccination sites across the city.
