Philippine Olympic Committee and Philippine Sports Commission Unite for Team Pilipinas’ Historic Send-Off to Nagoya 2026

Manila, Philippines – The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) today proudly led the official Send-Off Ceremony for Team Pilipinas, marking the nation’s united march toward the 20th Asian Games and 5th Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

The ceremony, held with full national spirit, was spearheaded by POC President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, POC Secretary General Atty. Wharton Chan, and PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio, alongside distinguished sports officials. Together, they formally entrusted the country’s hopes and pride to the 464-strong delegation of athletes and coaches who will represent the Philippines on the continental stage.

In a significant show of support, the Philippine government announced an additional ₱6,000 allowance for every competing athlete and coach, underscoring its commitment to ensuring Team Pilipinas is well-prepared and motivated for the challenges ahead.

“This send-off is more than a ceremony—it is a declaration of unity and confidence in our athletes,” said POC President Tolentino. “With the full backing of the government and the Filipino people, Team Pilipinas is ready to compete with honor and bring glory to the nation.”

The PSC echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the strengthened support system reflects the country’s determination to elevate Philippine sports and empower athletes to achieve excellence.
