Congressman Jolo Revilla Pushes for Stronger Worker Protection in DOLE Budget Briefing

Cavite First District Representative and House Committee on Labor and Employment Chairman Congressman Jolo Revilla underscored the importance of prioritizing worker protection measures during the recent House Committee on Appropriations Budget Briefing for the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Revilla highlighted the need for sufficient funding to support programs that directly address pressing issues on wages, employment, and worker welfare. Among the initiatives he strongly advocated for were:

• The establishment of the National Academy of Labor Justice (NALJ), which aims to elevate labor adjudication standards and ensure fairer resolutions for Filipino workers.
• The creation of the Labor Attorney’s Office (LAO), designed to provide legal assistance to workers who lack access to lawyers or proper representation.
  Congressman Revilla also sought clarity on how the House Committee and the Chamber could further assist DOLE in extending support to displaced workers, emphasizing that legislative backing must translate into tangible benefits for those most affected by job loss.
  “Our commitment is clear we will continue to push for adequate funding and reforms that guarantee justice, decent work, and protection for every Filipino worker,” Revilla stated.
  With his leadership, the Committee on Labor and Employment reaffirmed its dedication to advancing policies that uplift the lives of workers and strengthen the country’s labor system.
