PRA and PEATC Launch Sustainable Development Initiatives in Naic, Backed by SILG Jonvic Remulla
In a landmark event held at the Tanza Oasis Hotel and Resort, the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) and the Philippine Environment and Aquatic Technology Center (PEATC) formally launched a suite of initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development in Naic, Cavite. The program brought together national and local leaders, fisherfolk, scholars, and environmental advocates in a unified push toward a more resilient and eco-conscious future.
The event was graced by Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Jonvic Remulla, whose presence underscored the national government’s support for grassroots innovation and inter-agency collaboration. SILG Remulla commended the efforts of PRA, PEATC, and the local government of Naic, emphasizing that “true progress begins when communities are empowered to lead sustainable change.”
Among the highlights was the ceremonial blessing and distribution of newly built bangkas to local fisherfolk. These boats, designed for safer and more efficient coastal navigation, symbolize the government’s commitment to strengthening livelihoods while ensuring marine conservation. Support packages were also distributed, reinforcing inclusive growth and community resilience.
The launch also recognized outstanding scholars from Naic, celebrating their academic achievements and encouraging youth participation in science and sustainability. Complementing this was the introduction of hydroponics farming systems—climate-resilient alternatives to traditional agriculture that promote food security and responsible land use.
Mayor Magbitang, a vocal advocate for environmental reform, praised the collaborative spirit behind the initiatives. “Ang tunay na pagbabago ay nagsisimula sa pagkakaisa,” he said, highlighting the role of partnerships in achieving lasting impact. With hashtags like #LetsSaveNaicParaSaBatangNaic and #YormeMagbitang gaining traction online, the event concluded with a renewed call to action for civic unity and ecological responsibility.
With PRA, PEATC, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government working in concert, Naic is poised to become a model for integrated, people-centered sustainability—where innovation, education, and public service converge to shape a better tomorrow.
