Congresswoman Lani Mercado Revilla Champions Magna Carta for Public Social Workers

Manila, Philippines — A significant step forward in strengthening the country’s social welfare system was achieved as the Technical Working Group under the Committee on Social Services successfully concluded its deliberations on the proposed Magna Carta for Public Social Workers. The session was chaired by Congresswoman Lani Mercado Revilla, who underscored the importance of recognizing and protecting the rights of public social workers nationwide.

The discussion placed emphasis on three critical pillars:

– Fair Compensation and Benefits – ensuring that social workers receive just remuneration reflective of their vital contributions.

– Safe and Supportive Working Conditions – providing an environment that allows them to deliver services effectively without compromising their well-being.

– Institutional Support – establishing clear mechanisms that strengthen the role of social workers within the broader social welfare framework.

Congresswoman Revilla highlighted that the Magna Carta is not merely a legislative measure but a moral commitment to uplift those who dedicate their lives to serving vulnerable communities. “By safeguarding the dignity and welfare of our social workers, we are fortifying the very foundation of our nation’s social services,” she stated during the session.

The initiative is expected to bolster the country’s social welfare system by empowering the professionals who serve as its backbone. With stronger protections and clearer recognition, public social workers will be better equipped to deliver compassionate and effective service to the Filipino people.

This milestone reflects Congresswoman Revilla’s continuing advocacy for social justice and her dedication to ensuring that government support reaches those who tirelessly work at the frontlines of community service.
