SCC EXHIBIT: Hibla ng Kamalayan launched in Cavite
To further enrich and preserve arts, culture, and heritage, the National Commission on Culture and the Arts, through Regional Development Council Sub-Committee on Culture, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Cavite and Cavite State University, officially opened the doors to the SCC Exhibit, bannering the theme “Hibla ng Kamalayan,” on October 2. The event kicked off at CvSU Historical and Cultural Museum in Indang, Cavite, displaying flamboyant visual arts alongside the museum’s collection of diverse crafts that mirrors the expression and identity of the artists behind.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Ma. Agnes Nuestro, CvSU President, shared how deeply connected the event is to their goals and to the province’s cultural landscape.
“This exhibit is especially meaningful here in Cavite, a province not only rich in vibrant traditions and artistic expression, but also known as the historical capital of the Philippines.”, Dr. Nuestro said. She also highlighted the vital role of cultural understanding in strengthening community engagement and ties.
Hon. Ivee Jayne Reyes, 5th District Board Member and Committee Chair on Tourism, Arts, Heritage, and Public Information, likewise, extended her heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed guests and lauded the SCC members. BM Reyes also acknowledged the support being extended by the NCCA to the local artists, providing them with an opportunity to reach a larger scale and platform to promote their arts and expressions.
As she ended her keynote message, she reaffirmed the continued commitment of the PGC in nurturing arts, culture and heritage, on behalf of Governor Francisco Gabriel “Abeng” Remulla. “Manatili tayong makakultura, makabansa. Sabi nga po, maging proud sa kung saan tayo nagsimula.”, she reminded.
Subsequently, Ms. Marichu Tellano, NCCA Deputy Executive Director, underscored in her message of support that these creative works resonated with the artists’ “expression of passion, of identity.”
The Artist Talk followed, with Mr. Noel San Andres, Executive Member of the National Committee on Visual Arts, sharing his insights and expertise on photography and mentioned the things that people need to consider to capture visually favorable output. As Mr. San Andres concluded his speech, he outlined that “Photographers first and most enduring role is as a cultural anchor.”
Mr. Joether Francisco, Associate Professor III and Chair of CvSU Historical and Culture Committee, warmly welcomed everyone to their museum, and emphasized their commitment and full support to the PGC’s initiatives and endeavors in enriching the culture and heritage. On a serious note, he extended their gratitude for “celebrating identity, creativity and pride in our shared heritage.”
Afterwards, a Ribbon-cutting Ceremony was held to officially mark the opening of the exhibit, inviting the attendees to explore the lineup of the well-curated arts and crafts of the local artists.—J.Reyes
